Introducing Pawfectly Delicious
Hello all! Welcome to the first installment of Pawfectly Delicious’ blog, entitled “The Paw Print.”
To kick this blog off, we’d like to give you, the interested reader, a chance to know our story. Specifically, our story about who we are, what we do, and why we do it. Let’s get this blog rolling, shall we?
Who We Are
Pawfeclty Delicious is an IRS designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is trademarked and registered to operate in the state of Virginia. Our organization makes and sells ginger dog treats to areas in Virginia, Michigan, Maryland, and Delaware as well as online via our website. We first started as a mother-son duo with an idea, a mixer and a cause. We are now made up of a 7-member Board of Directors, a 7-person group of adult volunteers, and 25 differently-abled young adult participants including adults from the Pulley Career Center, a vocational training center in Alexandria, Virginia.
What We Do
Pawfectly Delicious produces dog treats, but not just any regular, store-bought ones. No, we sell ginger treats that are made with all-natural, human-grade ingredients. They are sure to have your tail-wagger begging for more! But what makes them ever more special is who makes these delicious doggy-cookies. As mentioned above, the Pulley Career Center has partnered with us. In this partnership, their adults help every week with making the dough! Afterwards, our volunteers and other awesome young adult participants cut the shapes, bake and package each bag of treats. Each package is made with love in hopes that every family dog enjoys them as much as we enjoy making them. With every package sold, the revenue is put towards our mission and to creating more treats for our loving, four-legged friends.
Why We Do It
Our mission is to provide young adults with disabilities the opportunity to engage in meaningful work and job training in an inclusive environment that celebrates their varying talents and connects them with the community. This IS the core of our organization. Statistically, 80% of the unemployed are adults with disabilities. We hope to change that one treat bag at a time. Not only are we striving to help them financially, but emotionally as well. Here at Pawfectly Delicious, we recognize the unique talents of each participant and celebrate each other’s similarities and differences together.
