Ginger and its Positive Effects on us and Our Fluffy Friends

Ever wondered why dogs love to munch on our delicious, all-natural dog treats? Is it the fact that its handmade and without GMOs or additives? Or is it more the taste?

… we think it’s the taste too!

And as ginger being one of the main ingredients to our treats, we’d thought it’d be good to inform our loyal customers about the great benefits ginger has on both you and your pet.

Some Benefits of Ginger:

  1. Reduce inflammation: Ginger has been found to reduce swelling and prevent spreads of infections because of its main component, gingerol, that has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

  2. Fight off Nausea/ Counteract an upset Stomach: When other nausea medications have side-effects, such as constipation, ginger does not. This makes it a go-to remedy for people who are suffering from an upset stomach especially because it also aids in clearing indigestion as well.

  3. Help with Arthritis: As people and dogs get older, the chance of developing painful arthritis becomes more and more of a possibility. Ginger can help those in pain and suffer from stiffness without as many side-effects as some prescription medications due to its anti-inflammatory properties listed in benefit #1

  4. Prevent Heart Disease: Can help to lower blood pressure and cholesterol when ginger (or ginger extract) is consumed regularly.

  5. Boost Brain Functionality: Regularly consuming ginger extract has proven to help the elderly improve reaction time, memory and combat the inflammation stress puts on our brains.

Heart Disease, arthritis, peaks in stress and inflammation are all things that can be scary and unhealthy for both dogs and their owners. By knowing some of the benefits of ginger, here’s to hoping the next time your dog begs for a treat you give him/her something that not only tastes good but is beneficial to their health.
